The Six Gosvamis of Vrindavan consist of; the brothers Sanatana Gosvami and Rupa Gosvami, their nephew Jiva Gosvami, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, Raghunatha dasa Gosvami and Gopala Bhatta Gosvami. They all studied Vaishnava Theology and were prominent Gaudiya Vaishnava acharyas and close followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He sent them to Vrindavana (Vrindavan) with instruction to recover the holy places connected to Krishna-lila, build temples and write scriptures. These scriptures form the basis of Gaudiya Vaishnava Theology. In Krishna-lila they are six of the manjari gopis.
