This article is about "Shri Ram Chandra Mission." For the generic "Sahaj Marg", see Sahaj Marg.

Shri Ram Chandra Mission was founded in 1945 at Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India by Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur (known as Babuji), in honour of his Guru, Shri Ram Chandra of Fatehgarh (known as Lalaji)who became God realized in only seven(7) months. There are two other groups who claim the succession from Lalaji, the Yogabhyas, with Dr. Chatterbuy as Guru and the Institute for Ram Chandra Consciousness (ISRC, with Dr Varadachari as Guru, claim the succession from Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur also. The current Master and President of Shir Ram Chandra Mission is Rajagopalachari Parthasarathy, known as Chariji. Chari joined the T. T. Krishnamachari group of companies in 1955, thereafter rising to the position of Executive Director of the Indian Textile Paper Tube Company, when he retired. He now dedicates his time to the Mission. The succession of the Ram Chandra Mission, according to Chari, must remain in the male gender and the succession will not pass to women, as the job includes an ability for destruction, and women do not posess such ability. The Senior Preceptor is Shri Bhaskar

K. Rao, Chief General Manager (Retd.) State Bank of Mysore.

There are more than in India and abroad, with a presence on every continent and in over 80 countries. The worldwide headquarters resides at Manapakkam, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. The European headquarters were at Augerans Castle in France but has recently moved to the Vrads Castle in Denmark after some controversy and a schism in France, and particularly in the little village of Dole, France, near the Augerans castle.

Sahaj Marg

Main article: Sahaj marg

Sahaj Marg is a non-monastic movement. As most religions, it is a non-renunciate form of Raja Yoga, where gathering and accumulation is dealt with by 'detachment', which replaces 'renunciation'. Those who adhere to the practices of Sahaj Marg are referred to as 'Abhyasis' or 'serfs'. A preceptor is an abhyasi who has been prepared and permitted by the Master to introduce people to the Sahaj Marg system and conduct group meditation. It claims to be a non-sectarian institution. Sahaj Marg translates to "The Natural Path." It is a natural, simple system of non-renunciate Raja Yoga meditation where obedience to the Master is stressed, and a spiritual practice that helps one realize the ultimate potential within oneself by surrendering control of the total self (body, mind and soul) to the will of the guru and becoming as a 'living dead' in the hands of a

funeral director, not being responsible for one's actions hence not acquiring "samskaras" or imprints on the soul. The lack of samskaras means the the disciple will be liberated from the dreaded birth and rebirth into this material world. This liberation is called the real 'freedom'. Total obedience to the guru is the only obligation. The Master is the master, not only for spirituality in the true disciple's life but he becomes the father, the mother, the son, the doctor, etc. There is no aspect of the disciple that the guru does not take over. Regular spiritual practice under capable guidance enables aspirants to progressively experience the sublime presence of the divine in their daily lives. Although written, audio and video litterature, and seminars and membership cards are not free, the Sahaj Marg system is freely offered to seekers worldwide through the Shri Ram Chandra Mission, and is effectively practiced by individuals from all walks of life - diverse nationalities, religious backgrounds, and various social conditions. There have been some debates and court challenges in Europe as to wether such total 'surrender' to an individual from another country would prevent one from serving in various public offices. There is also a school curriculum from K to 12. Accessible with a password.
