Shashi Kapoor (born Balbirraj Kapoor March 18, 1938) belongs to a very prolific acting family of India, the Kapoors. He is the brother of Raj Kapoor and the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, a pioneer in Indian cinema.

Biography

Shashi Kapoor was an extremely popular actor during the 1970s and the 1980s. In Indian cinema, his most famous movies include Jab Jab Phool Khile, Chor Machaye Shor, Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie, and Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Kapoor is also known internationally for his appearances in Merchant Ivory productions such as Shakespeare Wallah (1965), Heat and Dust (1982), and In Custody (1993). He is



said to have acted in more than 200 movies. Most of his early acting was the child who would grow up to be Raj Kapoor in Raj Kapoor's movies.

He was married to the late Jennifer Kendal and has two sons Karan and Kunal and a daughter Sanjana who is martied to wildlife author and photographer Valmik Thapar.
