Maharshi Valmiki

Maharshi Valmiki is a great sage and he wrote the epic Ramayana. The Ramayana gives no information of Valmiki although its Uttarkanda narrates certain events. His real name was Vali and lived in the kingdom of Ayodhya. In his early live he followed his family vocation of cathing and selling fish.Dissatisfied of his possessions,Vali became a bandit.

After some changes of time and after an encounter with a Brahmin,Sankha, Valli was sunk in a deep meditation in the word 'RAMA'.Valmiki or Valmika means anthill. This name was given to Vali by Sage Narada. This happens that when Narada was once passing by and heard a whispering sound of "RAMA" "RAMA" coming from an anthill - Editted by P,Raj
