Sadhvi Ritambhara, affectionately known as “Didi Maa”, is one of the most prominent citizens of modern India. Her supreme devotion to the cause of promoting and preserving the dignity of her beloved motherland and her fellow beings are unparalleled in recent history. It is no surprise, therefore, that Sadhvi Ritambhara is often placed in the league of such great personalities as Swami Vivekananda. This great daughter of India has once again risen to spread the message of the Vedas and Upanishads and to show the world what Hinduism is truly all about. In India, Sadhvi Ritambhara is working relentlessly to help uplift the downtrodden and forge a bond of unity among the fragmented Hindu masses. Empowered by her own ardent desire to provide a loving home with a stable and secure environment for abandoned children and women, and inspired by her Guru, Mahamandaleshwar Yugpurush Swami Parmanandji Maharaj, Sadhvi Ritambhara has put her faith into action by establishing Vatsalya Gram – a Village of Affections in May 2003 in Vrindavan, India. It comprises of a lush sprawl of 50 acres on the Vrindavan-Mathura Road. “Vatsalya” is a Sanskrit word that means feelings of affection and compassion towards one’s offspring. “Gram” in Sanskrit means a village or a community. In her Vatsalya Gram, or “Vatsalya Temple”, as she sometimes calls it, Sadhvi Ritambhara envisions a world where each child will be raised in the secure atmosphere of a permanent home and nurtured in the warmth of a mother’s lap. Driven by the aspirations of her Vatsalya family, her many well-wishers and her own incontrovertible devotion to the Vatsalya family, Sadhvi Ritambhara pursues her mission with both excellence and compassion because the people whom she serves deserve nothing less. Vatsalya Gram is the only facility of its kind in the world where orphaned women and children come together as parents and siblings and function as complete families. It is a unique alternative to orphanages and women's homes. The facility comprises of schools, hospitals and has trained professionals to help these families live secure and happy lives. A hundred homes are proposed for the village. A 'training centre' provides vocational training to make the women self-reliant. Vatsalya Gram operates as a project of Param Shakti Peeth, a non-profit tax-exempt organization incorporated under section 501(c)(3) in the United States of America. In India, Param Shakti Peeth is registered as a non-governmental religious charitable organization. Contact: vatsalyagram@sbcglobal.net
