Panchamukha is a sanskrit word meaning 'five-faced'. Most of the Hindu deities areshown as having several faces. It is a metaphorical representation of various traits or characters.

For instance, Panchamukha Ganapathy, Panchamukha Shivalinga, Panchamukha Hanuman and so on.
