This article is about the Hindu sage Kashyapa or Kasyapa. See also Mahakasyapa information on the Buddhist monk.

Kashyapa ("tortoise") is an ancient sage (one of the rishis), father of the devas, asuras, nagas and all of humanity. He is the son of the Lord Creator Brahma, created by Brahma's thought.

He is married to Aditi, with whom he is the father of Agni and the Adityas. He received the earth of Parasuma's conquest of King Kaartaveerya-arjuna and the kings of the world.
