In Hinduism, Hiranyaksha was a demon killed by Vishnu after taking the Earth to the bottom of the ocean.Vishnu assumed the form of a white boar (Sri Varaha) and dived into the water to lift the Earth. He slew the demon Hiranyaksha who was obstructing Him and rescued the Earth. The battle lasted one thousand years. He had an older brother named Hiranyakashipu.
