Gaya is a city in Bihar, India, and it is also the headquarters of Gaya District.

Gaya is one of the ancient cities in India. It is about 100 kilometers south of Patna . It contains a multi-cultural society. It is significant for Hindus as well as Buddhists of all over the world. Its name Gaya is derived from a mythical story character Gayasur. The city is located on the western bank of river Falgu. Gaya is most signifact to Hindus from the point of view of salvation to the souls of ancestors.

It was associated with Magadh in ancient time.
