Chandrasekharendra Saraswati- “Maha Periyaval” (1894-1994) was the sixty eighth Shankaracharya (pontiff) of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, according to the official account. He headed the institution for eighty-seven years.

He lived the life of austerity, self-discipline and a highly spiritual life and demonstrated to the world how a renounced saint should live.

His divine compassion has touched the hearts of many devotees.
