In Hindu mythology, Budha (not to be confused with Buddha) is the name for the planet Mercury, a son of Chandra (the moon) with either Tara or Rohini.

Names derived from this planet are used as synonyms of Wednesday in India. The original name was Budhavara, still used in some languages; in modern Hindi, Bengali, and Gujarati it is Budhwar; in Tamil and Malayalam it is Budhan.
